The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and leading a team of nurses and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills and foster a positive work environment that promotes professional growth and teamwork.
The Acute Medicine Unit at BJH provides high-quality care for patients experiencing acute medical conditions, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely and effective treatment.

About Acute Care Medicine
Acute Care Medicine treats patients with a full range of clinical issues, including :
Significant blood dyscrasias
Advanced endocrine pathology
Heart and renal failure
GI conditions
Infectious diseases
Asthma
And many other acute conditions
Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning.
Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse, supported by an advanced practice nurse. Additionally, each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit(s) on a 24-hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility of :
72 FTEs supervised + $2.5 million in total expenses OR
40 FTEs supervised + $5 million in total expenses
Responsibilities
Manages individuals including hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, and conducting professional development plans
Ensures productivity and actions of the team support overall operational goals
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue, and / or expense budgets
Responds to changes in the business that may affect budget goals
Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence-based clinical and management practice
Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
Keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed
Promotes and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans, and outcomes
Researches, evaluates, selects, and implements systems to improve efficiency of work unit operations
Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business / programs
Minimum Requirements
Education : Nursing Diploma / Associate's Nursing
Experience : 25 years
Supervisor Experience : 2 years
Licenses & Certifications : RN
Preferred Requirements
Education : Bachelor's Degree Nursing
Experience : 510 years
