Tobin Scientific is seeking two dedicated and detail-oriented Inventory Data Specialist (Co-op / Intern) to join our team for a critical project. In this hands-on role, you will be instrumental in a significant data migration initiative, ensuring the accurate transfer of inventory data between systems. You will participate in an extensive inventory reconciliation project, which includes the following : data collection, standardization and entry; the physical verification of items and their locations; and the application of labels to items, including boxes and racking. You will gain hands-on experience with the implementation of a warehouse management system, and the daily activities in a specialized warehouse.
Location : Peabody & Newburyport, MA
Position Type : Full-time, typically 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities :
- Work collaboratively in a small team to execute the data transfer from planning through completion.
- Arrive on site as scheduled, prepared to complete the assigned tasks for the day.
- Review and prepare inventory reports (spreadsheets) for accuracy and completeness, primarily utilizing Excel
- Verify physical inventory, including counting, inspecting, and reconciling digital records
- Use warehouse management software and hardware to print and aplly labels to inventory.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory data, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Document processes and procedures related to data migration and inventory management.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives related to data handling and inventory management.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards, especially concerning data integrity and inventory control.
Qualifications / Requirements :
Possession of a car and a valid driver's license for local travel; able to work in-person on-site multiple days each week.Currently enrolled in a relevant program such as Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, formulas, data manipulation).High attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving.Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to perform physical tasks associated with inventory verification and labeling, including standing for long periods, operating a pallet jack (training provided), and lifting / moving boxes.Familiarity with inventory management concepts or systems is a plus.Duration : Immediate start, with a commitment through the end of 2025 and a high possibility of extension into the first quarter of 2026.
