About The Position

We are seeking a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner for a 70-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa. This opportunity begins on Aug 4, 2025, involving shifts from 8am to 4 : 30pm. The Nurse Practitioner will be integral in managing patient care in a critical access hospital, including a Med / Surg unit, a ED, and a ICU. The role requires handling an average of 4-6 patients per day outside of admissions and discharges, with around 6 admits / discharges daily.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Admit patients from the Emergency Department (ED)
  • Manage patient care on the medical floor and in the ICU
  • Handle discharges directly from the floor
  • Collaborate with specialty backup including Anesthesia, Surgical Services, Radiology, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Neurology, Behavioral Health / Psychiatry, and Cardiology
  • Ensure the continuity of care for transferred patients to facilities in Missouri and Iowa
  • Additional Information

  • EMR System : Allscripts
  • Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Iowa
  • Procedural experience is advantageous but not essential
