Position Summary :
The Program specialist - program strategy and operations provides vital administrative, logistical, and operational support across the department's portfolio of programs, meetings, and cross-functional initiatives. Collaborate with the senior program manager - program strategy and operations to support member-facing programs and events, including conference logistics, scheduling, and departmental agendas. Design and implement training for operational systems, compile and track program evaluation metrics, coordinate logistics for national scientific meetings on behalf of the department, and process and track stipends, reimbursements, and expense documentation for academic events and conferences. This position will also provide some resource support to the staff liaisons to the APS Committee on Education (COE) and the Committee on Careers and Professional Development (CCPD), apply today!
This position is primarily remote, but the specialist is expected to perform duties in the College Park, MD or Washington, DC offices 2 - 4 days per month.

The salary range for this position takes into account various factors influencing compensation decisions, such as skill sets, experience, training, and other business and organizational requirements. The salary listed within the specified ranges considers relevant experience. Our compensation philosophy at APS aims to maintain salaries at the midpoint of the market. As a result, we typically hire within the target starting range. Exceptional, rare cases may merit reviews above target starting range for specialized or niche skills aligned with strategic operational goals.
Hiring Range : $56,817 / year - $77,413 / year (USD)
Target Starting Range : $56,817 / year - $63,209 / year (USD)
Work Environment :
As noted above, APS offers a "Remote First" workplace. Although our offices are located on Long Island, NY, College Park, MD and Washington DC, you can work from other places in the United States. We are flexible about work hours, but expect responsiveness during the core of the workday, Eastern Time.
