Description
Reporting to the Senior Director-Centralized Operations, the Distribution Center (DC) Manager’s main responsibility is to oversee all operation functions of the DC while managing the operations staff, preparing work schedules, and assigning specific duties. The Distribution Center Manager also directs and coordinates all activities that relate to the successful on time delivery of products to customers, and company branches connected to their DC. In Your Day-to-Day You will :
- Ensure the overall safety of the DC site and employees.
- Work with customers daily to address questions, issues, and requests for service or products.
- Manage, coach, and develop operation associates to ensure top quality service to our customers.
- Oversee the daily functions of associates in picking / packing, shipping, receiving, dispatching, and driving.
- Ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed by all DC employees.
- Interact with all levels of staff in the DC, other branches, and corporate functions, ensuring proper workflow and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Hold responsibility for the management of the DC fleet.
- Be responsible for ensuring timely maintenance and service of the fleet.
- Schedule maintenance for all vehicles and collaborate with Fleet Manager to adhere to motor vehicle and fleet safety laws.
- Be responsible for DOT compliance issues, keeping up on our DOT / SMS scores.
- Schedule drivers for medical cards, keeping track of physicals and any other compliance requirements.
- Ensure that all paperwork and documentation is in order and submitted in timely fashion.
- Partner with outside vendors, including those involved in the repair, maintenance, and procurement of DC vehicles.
- Perform daily cycle counts and adjust inventory accordingly.
- Manage inventory and outgoing orders.
- Operate various machinery including forklifts, pallet jacks, and cherry pickers as needed.
- Ensure regular upkeep of the DC.
- Assist in the recruitment efforts for the DC, including interviewing and making hiring decisions.
