Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in the operation of a field survey crew
- The major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, meeting regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, and maintenance of equipment
- Must operate equipment, maintain safe work environment, protect and maintain the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features
- Record accurate and clear surveying notes
- Requires a lot of walking outside year-round through all kinds of terrain and in extreme heat and cold
- Set wooden stakes and iron rods, cut and clear brush, trees, etc.
- Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies
- Assisting Registered Professional Surveyors with CAD production, survey research, boundary analysis, easement preparations, legal descriptions, and computing survey points
- Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff
Required Skills
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignmentsAbility to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundingsAbility to lift 50 pounds and walk long distancesRequired Experience
High school diploma or GED requiredCurrently enrolled in an associates or bachelor’s degree program in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of studyBasic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D for production activitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks, project coordination, maintain organizational structures, and interact with other design servicesAbility to perform in a fast-paced environment that is in a growth modeStrong listening, writing, and verbal communication skillsPreferred Experience
Knowledge of ALTA surveys, boundary analysis, topographic surveys, preparation of easement documents, legal descriptions, final plat preparation, construction stakingFull use of Microsoft OfficeFamiliar with GIS processes and terminologyPrior experience with survey field work
