Research Associate - Alzheimer's Disease Study

Position Responsibilities

  • Liaises and coordinates all Brain Bank related activities between the University of Florida, Mayo Clinic, Orlando ADRC, and Dieners. Assists Wien Center Director and Research Manager with communications to the DOEA and State of Florida Brain Bank
  • Assists in providing transportation to Mount Sinai Hospital at the time of death for tissue procurement
  • Assists in obtaining, processing, packing, and shipping of laboratory samples specimens for clinical trials, neuropathology studies and academic studies. Assists in preparing, packing, and shipping of brain tissue to Mayo Clinic and University of Florida
  • Aids in preparing and submitting all required quarterly and annual report documentation for the Brain Bank to the DOEA
  • Assist with recruitment of subjects into the State of Florida Brain Bank and MDC
  • Completes brain donation-related consents, donor registration, co-enrollment, and all brain donation-related tasks for other studies (ADNI, ADRC, ACTC, etc.) Obtains subject demographic and background registration information for all donors
  • Prepares Brain Bank files for filing and copies for nursing administration
  • Assists with filing of documentation in files for drug trials, Brain Bank and the 1Florida ADRC. Assists with maintenance and filing of source documentation and computer-based data entry for grants and drug trials
  • Administers and scores memory screenings, assists in the preparation of communication of results, and other related tasks
  • Performs phlebotomy duties, biospecimen processing, and shipping
  • Maintain adequate testing supplies / materials to be able to perform the assigned tasks
  • Maintain all study certifications and continue to pursue bilingual training
  • Assists with all other miscellaneous functions in the research department as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of experience in Research working with an adult population desired
  • Memory clinic experience desired
  • Phlebotomy certificate and experience is a must
