Test Lab Technician

Location : Fresno, CA

FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt / Hourly

California Compensation Range : $22.00 – $28.00

Compensation is determined by a combination of an individual’s relevant work experience and skillset level.)

Purpose

The Test Lab Technician at Trillium Flow Technologies is responsible for testing a wide range of pumps and pump systems to ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal standards, and applicable industry regulations. This includes testing pumps used in agricultural, municipal, fire protection, offshore, and nuclear applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct performance and hydrostatic testing of Floway-manufactured pumps and systems to meet customer and industry standards.
• Review test packages, engineering documents, and specifications to determine test setup, requirements, and applicable standards (e.g., Hydraulic Institute, AWWA, ANSI, Factory Mutual).
• Interpret submittal curves, convert units (e.g., kW to HP, GPM to metric), and verify test parameters.
• Set up test equipment including voltage selection, wiring, and mechanical seals; operate generators and cooling towers as needed.
• Monitor tests in real time, taking periodic measurements of flow, pressure, and vibration; listen for mechanical issues and ensure test accuracy.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between customer data, order documentation, and test procedures.
• Issue work orders for nonconforming parts and retest modified pumps as needed.
• Notify Quality Control of mechanical failures and assist in generating NCRs.
• Program and calibrate test equipment including variable frequency drives, power meters, flow meters, and vibration packs.
• Perform calibration of pressure gauges using dead-weight testers and coordinate external calibration of electronic equipment.
• Support Engineering and R&D by providing test data and assisting with hydraulic testing demonstrations.
• Maintain compliance with ISO and quality procedures.
• Observe all safety and ISO 9001 / 14001 Requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

Work Environment

The work requires considerable physical exertion, including frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of heavy objects over 50 pounds. The environment involves moderate risks and requires adherence to safety precautions, including working around moving parts and rotating equipment. Routine use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs
