POSITION TITLE : INSTRUCTIONAL DATA SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO : COORDINATOR OF SCHOOL & TEACHER QUALITY OVERTIME STATUS : EXEMPT
PAY GRADE : 711 (10+1 MONTHS)
JOB SUMMARY :
The Instructional Data Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the logistics and operations of various types of tests administered within a school setting, as well as maintaining accurate and confidential data files of student achievement, and will work to support data literacy training for teachers and administrators in the use of data to improve instruction. This position will also review school, state, and federal data to develop comparison trends and design and develop reports as requested. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of exams, assessments, and other standardized tests, as well as using the assessment data to help schools address achievement goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
JOB SPECIFICATIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. May require hearing, vision, physical coordination and / or exertion and effort in excess of those listed above. Ability to drive and travel from various school locations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Must possess a Bachelor's in education or a related field. Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license. Previous teaching experience preferred. Master's degree preferred. Expert ability to learn and implement technology is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Must have experience in using academic data to impact instruction and school systems thinking and planning. Must have the ability to interact positively with teachers and administrators, and have knowledge of the school improvement process. Must have skill in explaining testing and data to administrators, teachers, and parents.
