Failure Analysis Technician

Summary

Failure Analysis Technician is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the failure analysis process by conducting tests, collecting data, and assisting senior engineers in identifying root causes of product failures. This role is essential for ensuring the quality and reliability of products in industries such as electronics, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other Duties not listed may be assigned.

  • ASEE or industry equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of basic hardware engineering concepts within a computer (drives, boards, CPUs, GPUs, RAM, PCIe) as well as basic inter-server computer engineering concepts (PSUs, ethernet)
  • Be mechanically inclined to be able to remove server components and replace or reinstall.
  • Able to follow technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with minimal assistance.
  • Knowledge of OS environments (e.g. Windows, Linux).
  • Basic knowledge of the terminal (PowerShell in Windows, CLI in Linux)
  • Basic knowledge of both Intel and AMD x86 architectures
  • Versatility to learn cutting edge technologies and adapt existing validation techniques to meet demand.
  • A self-starter with experience working, collaborating, and communicating (written and verbal) in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to set priorities and set schedules based on workload.

Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of various methods of flashing system programmable
  • Hands on experience test equipment such as Mixed Signal Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, etc.
  • Experience in board and component level debug (locating blown capacitors, resistors, traces, burnt chips etc.)
  • Board level rework skills to add and remove components and add wires (soldering skills down to 0201 sized components, trace repair)
  • Knowledge in scripting for automating test processes (Bash scripting, TeraTerm scripting, Python)
  • Knowledge of the arm64 architecture
  • Working Condition

    Environment is climate controlled. Should be able to reach over shoulder heights; bend or stoop below the waist; repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement; occasional lifting up to 45 pounds. Able to work in an environment with loud noise.
