Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a Senior HDL Systems Architect to contribute to the advancement of our cutting-edge RF systems. This position goes beyond FPGA development and requires someone who can think strategically about systems architecture, understand tradeoffs, and lead the design process.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will be involved in architecting, developing, and refining high-performance digital systems for various RF and antenna applications. The ideal candidate thrives in an engineering-driven, collaborative environment and enjoys the fast-paced nature of an R&D setting where they can make a tangible impact on deployed products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement system-level digital signal processing and control solutions using HDL (Verilog, VHDL, or similar).
  • Lead the design process from requirements definition through system integration and validation.
  • Collaborate with RF, embedded software, and hardware teams to create integrated and effective systems.
  • Provide guidance to junior HDL developers and drive technical excellence within the team.
  • Manage design documentation, simulation, and testing strategies at both module and system levels.
  • Evaluate trade-offs and make component selections during the architectural design phase.
  • Utilize build systems and Linux environments to support hardware integration and testing.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not involve direct supervisory responsibilities.

Other Duties

Please note that this job description does not encompass every task, duty, or responsibility expected of the employee in this role. Responsibilities may evolve over time with or without notice.

Qualifications

To perform successfully in this role, you must possess :

  • Preferred Education and Experience : U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • At least 3 years of experience in FPGA development using Verilog / VHDL.
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting complex digital systems, not just implementing individual components.
  • Thorough understanding of signal processing, system interfaces, and timing constraints.
  • Experience with high-speed serial protocols (PCIe, SPI, I2C, AXI, Aurora, JESD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with RF system concepts and the integration of HDL with analog hardware.
  • Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in Python, C / C++, or other scripting languages to support testing and tool development.
  • Experience with Linux development (user-space, device drivers, or build systems like Yocto or Petalinux).
  • Knowledge of simulation tools and testbenches (ModelSim, Vivado, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in hardware tasks such as schematic capture, board bring-up, or lab test / debugging.
  • Familiarity with tools like Spade or Veryl for system modeling or HDL generation.
