This is a full-time weekday job working for a great employer in Tualatin. You will be a part of recycling operations, helping to keep our planet green. The company hiring for this role has been at the forefront of recycling in Portland for decades and has several locations with room for long-term growth. In addition to operating equipment, your role will be to broker deals to buy recyclable metals from commercial clients and "scrappers" as they arrive with truckloads of recyclables.

Schedule : Monday - Friday, Day Shift

Location : Tualatin, OR

Starting pay : $19 / hour if you have directly relevant work experience : but the company will also consider great candidates with less experience starting at $18 / hour until your trained and up-to-speed.

Qualifications of a successful Metal Buyer / Equipment Operator are :

  • Knowledge of various metals types
  • Safe and experienced equipment operation (forklift, front end loader, yard-goat, & baler)
  • Participate in inspection of equipment
  • Assist in inspections of site conditions
  • Assist customers in the public depot and buyback area as needed
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by management
  • Understands the importance of safety
  • Assists team in creating highest quality baled products

Skills and Abilities :

  • 2+ years experience operating heavy equipment
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work alone at times
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Work cooperatively with a diverse workforce
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math aptitude
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Willing to participate in continuing education and job enhancement courses
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Preferred valid drivers license and proof of insurance.
