Research Librarian

Spathe Systems is seeking a Research Librarian for the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission in support of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

Clearance : TOP SECRET clearance required; SCI eligible

SPATHE is looking for a qualified person to support our multi-year contract with the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) mission in support of USSOCOM. As a Research Librarian, support JSOU staff, faculty, and students by providing subject matter expertise as part of JSOU's strategic efforts with emphasis on military studies and research.

Requirements :

  • Provide research and information services in support HQ USSOCOM and JSOU.
  • Fulfill requests for reference and short duration or limited research at both the classified and unclassified level.
  • Provide library database usage and research instruction.
  • Maintain subject matter specialization concentration in military science and the social sciences, exchanging extensive sources of information / guidance / research with primarily senior level military personnel and supporting an evolving senior level academic specialized research program.
  • Maintain library automation systems to include portal pages, library website, databases, discovery systems, proxy systems, etc. and ensure compliance with current policies and regulations.
  • Consult with colleagues on improving reference and information services automation systems upon assessment of current platforms.
  • Assist in the collection and interpretation of library statistics.
  • Assist with interlibrary loans, borrowing and lending, and document delivery for electronically shareable materials, primarily articles and book chapters.
  • Participate in collection development with an emphasis on digital resources and databases.
  • Perform circulation desk functions as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Master's in library and information sciences required. Degree must be from a regionally accredited U.S. college / university or internationally recognized college / university.
  • 2 years' experience as a reference librarian at a college or university level.
  • 5 years' experience extensive knowledge of research methods and databases.
  • Current knowledge of library management systems and tools such as but not limited to EOS-Web Academic, The Library Company (TLC)-Library Solution, and Ex Libris cloud-based solutions.
  • Perform physical work including the ability to carry, pull, and lift up to 40 lbs. and bend and stand for one-hour.

    0800-1700 Mon-Fri adjusted hours as needed.

    Travel :

  • Travel may be limited to about 5% to various locations. The candidate may travel as initiated by written tasking.
