We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer to join a growing engineering firm specializing in industrial chemical processing facilities . This role involves designing, analyzing, and optimizing chemical processes for clients in industries such as phosphate, fertilizer, and heavy industrial plants . Candidates must have strong technical expertise , the ability to work on multiple projects, and excellent collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop mass / energy balances, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and P&IDs .
- Perform process equipment sizing and specifications (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, reactors, etc.).
- Conduct pipe flow modeling, control valve sizing, and PRV / PSV design .
- Utilize AutoCAD for design modifications ( Plant 3D a plus ).
- Prepare technical reports, FEL studies, and cost estimates .
- Provide construction support, installation inspections, and commissioning assistance .
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications :
B.S. in Chemical Engineering (required).5+ years of industrial chemical process design experience.Strong knowledge of unit operations, heat / mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and reaction kinetics .Expertise in pipe flow modeling, control valve sizing, and PRV / PSV design .AutoCAD proficiency ( Plant 3D a plus ).EI or PE certification preferred .Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.Job Details :
Location : Lakeland, FL ( must be within commuting distance ).Pay : $40-$60 / hr DOE (contract) | $80K-$120K+ (direct hire, higher for PE).Schedule : M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM (some flexibility).Travel : Minimal (~10%, mostly in FL & Southeast).Remote Work : Hybrid potential (1 day / week in FL; full-time option for senior-level in NC).Overtime : Project-based, paid at 1.5x rate .Background Check & Drug Screen Required (5-panel test).This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position, but direct hire is also an option .
