Celebrating a Century : TITLE : Research Assistant I

POSITION SUMMARY :

Under minimal supervision independently and in collaboration with others perform research and conduct a wide variety of standard laboratory procedures for projects; analyze data and interpret results; investigate troubleshoot and modify methods and procedures as necessary; may assist in designing experiments; may provide routine equipment maintenance as well as guidance / training to other department personnel; perform other related duties tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES :

  • Assist in the generation and maintenance of human iPSC-derived neuronal and glial cultures as well as primary neuronal cultures ensuring optimal growth conditions.
  • Perform laboratory techniques such as immunocytochemistry and Western Blotting while providing initial data analysis and interpretation of results.
  • Conduct experiments both independently and in collaboration with team members contributing to the overall research goals of the project.
  • Assist in troubleshooting experimental protocols and optimizing laboratory techniques to improve research outcomes.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education training and / or experience from which comparable knowledge skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Requires 1-3 years experience. Candidates possessing a Masters degree 0-2 years experience required.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment.

  • COMPENSATION : The expected hiring range for this position is $20.67 to $25.06 per hour commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
