Senior Technology Engineer - Java / J2EE

Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking an energetic problem solver with proficiency in application software development. This applicant must be highly motivated to meet project deadlines and technology challenges. The Norfolk Southern Information Technology Department is searching for a qualified candidate to join a dynamic project team working to validate the functionality of NS transportation systems. This position provides the opportunity for the individual to be involved with the support of a new crew management system. The candidate will interface primarily with team lead as well as the business area to design new code or modify the existing application. Interactions with external vendors will be required.

Responsibilities :

• Develop software using J2EE design patterns with emphasis on reusability.
• Understand and analyze details provided in the use case, or task narratives.
• Estimate effort for technical analysis, design, and development.
• Adhere to coding standards and design specifications.
• Technical testing and troubleshooting.
• Analyze and resolve technical issues independently.
• Integrate vendor products in the NS infrastructure.
• Understanding of Dev / Ops concepts with the ability to provide requirements to infrastructure team as well as provide troubleshooting assistance.
• Working experience with agile methodologies (Scrum).
