Review, check, and process approval of shop drawings and other submittals by the Contractor for adherence to the intent and requirements of the Construction Documents, usually within seven days of submittal.
If requested by the Owner or the Contractor, provide interpretations of the Construction Documents and the design intent and respond to requests for information regarding the Construction Documents. Work with design engineers to Prepare supplemental sketches or details as necessary to clarify field conditions not covered in the Construction Documents. Direct minor changes in the construction work not involving adjustment in cost or schedule where necessary to carry out the intent of the Construction Documents.
Attend regular job progress meetings scheduled by the Owner. Attend special meetings as required by the Owner.
Observe the construction work as required (frequency varies) as appropriate based on the status of construction, to determine if the work is being performed in conformity with the Construction Documents and is proceeding generally in accordance with the Owner’s schedule, assessing the quality of the work. On the basis of such on-site observations, the Construction Administrator shall develop reports to keep the Owner informed of the progress and quality of the work.
Review and make recommendations to the Owner regarding relevant change order proposals from the Contractor for scope, cost, and construction schedule impact.
Requirements
10 plus years of construction experience, ideally in MEP or general contracting managing MEP subcontractors.
Knowledge of construction documents, change order processes, and MEP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and project management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC). Proficiency with annotating construction documents to indicate deviations in the field.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment
Office-based with frequent site visits, some requiring overnight and long-distance travel.
Collaboration with project managers, project engineers, project architects, and clients.
