Bus Driver
Under general supervision, the Bus Driver safely operates city minibuses to transport senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include following set routes and schedules using ITS and MDT, assisting passengers, maintaining radio communication, and ensuring the vehicle remains clean.
Essential Job Functions :
- Safe and Efficient Minibus Operation :
- Operate a minibus with utmost safety and efficiency by utilizing an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).
- Adhere to all traffic regulations, following designated routes, and ensuring timely delivery of passengers while maintaining an effective schedule.
- Passenger Assistance :
- Always provide attentive and courteous assistance to passengers.
- Help with boarding and disembarking, addressing questions or concerns, and ensuring that individuals, especially those with special needs, have a comfortable and supportive experience throughout their journey.
- Accurate Reporting via Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) :
- Complete required reports and log trip details accurately using Mobile Data Terminals.
- Enter real-time data, maintaining clear and precise records, and supporting effective communication with the dispatch team
- Effective Two-Way Radio Communication.
- Maintain continuous two-way radio contact to ensure smooth coordination with dispatch and other team members.
- This duty requires prompt and clear communication, adherence to established protocols, and timely updates regarding any changes or issues during service delivery.
Other Job Functions :
Ensure the minibus is kept clean and presentable by performing routine cleaning tasks including but not limited to :Tidying the interior.Sanitizing surfaces.Maintaining the overall appearance of the vehicle.Contribute to a safe and pleasant environment for passengers.Minimum Qualifications :
Knowledge of streets and public facilities in the city.Knowledge of basic two-way radio communication and speak in a clear manner.Skill to operate a Mobile Data Terminal (MDT).Skill in making simple arithmetic calculations.Skill in reading and interpreting maps, and Global Positioning System (GPS).Skill in responding to / applying established procedures for emergency situations.Skill in operating a two-way radio.Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.Ability to be empathetic and cognizant of problems and needs regarding the elderly and citizens with disabilities.Ability to maneuver a special transit vehicle safely through traffic.Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds.Incumbent is subject to infectious disease hazards.Push a wheelchair, lift / carry grocery bags, and bending to place wheelchair constraints daily.Qualifying Education and Experience :
High School Diploma or equivalentSix months related experiencePreferred Qualifications :
