Posting Details Business Title Data Engineer Posting Category IT / Technology Salary Grade 08T Salary Plan Professional Staff - SEIU Hiring Range / Pay Rate Department Institutional Research Department Description Position Location Main Campus FTE 1.0 Job Summary Leads the design, development, and maintenance of robust data infrastructure and pipelines to support Cleveland State University’s (CSU) enterprise data needs. Ensures efficient data flow between systems, supporting institutional reporting requirements such as IPEDS, ODHE, accreditation, and strategic planning efforts. Transforms raw data into structured formats that support analytics, business intelligence, and data visualization. Collaborates with institutional research, IT, and academic departments to promote data consistency, integrity, and accessibility. Develops and optimizes data models, builds automation for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), and supports campus-wide data governance and literacy initiatives. Provides technical expertise to define and implement CSU’s data architecture strategies and tools. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science, information science, or a related technical discipline.Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).Proficiency with SQL, Python, and ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Apache Airflow, or Informatica).Experience managing or mentoring technical teams.Familiarity with data challenges and compliance requirements in higher education.Prior leadership experience in a higher education or public sector environment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
