Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop and execute the strategy for modernizing fraud risk decisioning at PayPal implementing cutting-edge techniques such as reinforcement learning, generative AI and graph mining at scale
  • Build and lead a high-performing data science, machine learning engineering, and applied R&D teams that thrive on innovation, and collaboration, and execution
  • Attract best in class Data Science and AI talent to PayPal
  • Partner with Product and Engineering team productionize state of the art data, AIOps, MLOps, decision platforms as well as real-time fraud management systems
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and lifecycle of fraud risk models and other advanced capabilities
  • Evangelize, Communicate and Influence, by driving alignment on vision, roadmap, investment needs, risks and opportunities with large cross functional teams
  • Collaborating cross functionally in advancing PayPal’s risk decisioning capabilities holistically across the customer lifecycle, and deliver best-in-class risk experiences for PayPal customer globally

Qualifications :

  • 12+ years of experience leading cutting-edge data science, machine learning engineering, and applied R&D teams
  • Proven subject matter expertise in at least two of the following areas : AI, optimization, graph mining, experimentation, and reinforcement learning
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of attracting top technical talent, managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience in designing and implementing AI systems and tools for real-time decision making in extremely high velocity settings
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience strategically influencing and aligning senior stakeholders and key partners to drive action and sustainable results in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Familiarity to risk management fields such as fraud prevention is required, extensive experience is preferred
  • Advanced degree is required; PhD is preferred
