M anual Lathe Machinist , Up to $45 / hr - Detroit, MI (1st Shift)
Job Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual lathe machines to produce high-precision metal components and parts. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, and a solid understanding of machining processes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Set up and operate manual lathe machines to machine parts and components as per specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to determine machining processes and specifications.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments for the job.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functionality and adherence to tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Inspect finished parts using various measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure precision and quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve processes and product quality.
- Ensure that all work is completed within required timelines and meets production goals.
Qualifications :
Proven experience as a Manual Lathe Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.Proficient in using measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to ensure quality control.Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with high precision.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong safety awareness and adherence to workplace safety procedures.High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or vocational training a plus.Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for extended periods.Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for machine operation.Preferred Skills :
