Job Summary

The Southwest Healthcare Regional office in Temecula, CA is seeking a on-site Full-Time Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for accurate preparation, documentation, and distribution of payroll via the payroll system for multiple facilities across the Region.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to :

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll with a high accuracy rate according to schedule.
  • Thoroughly understands the Time and Attendance system, as well as the Payroll system.
  • Processes special and termination checks when required and ensures that they are ready by the prescribed deadline and in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Process Payroll corrections including, but not limited to incorrect or missed swipes, badge issues, direct deposit rejections, lost checks and stop pays are processed by payroll.
  • Reviewing the computation of pay and ensures the company payroll policies are in accordance with the government regulations.
  • Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks and payroll information.
  • Responsible for setting up and managing agency garnishments according to the orders received.
  • Audits payroll and tax information as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE :

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited College or University in related field preferred.
  • Two (2) to Three (3) years of experience in payroll required, acute care experience preferred.
  • Kronos experience preferred.
  • CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES :

  • Payroll Certification preferred.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with the Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Healthcare policies and procedures at all times.
  • Ability to set priorities and appropriately organize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
  • Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll procedures.
  • Working knowledge of wage and hour laws for hospitals.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain positive relationships and courteous interactions with hospital staff and the public.
  • Must be able to use the following : SMS Computer, Personal Computer, Typewriter, Fax Machine, LaserJet Printer, and Electronic Printing Calculator.
