POSITION SUMMARY :

Under daily supervision by project manager Controls Technician 1 is responsible for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting building unit controllers and Facility Management Systems. This role is primarily focused on Controls installation for BAS systems and controllers to include, install of conduit, wire, panels, terminations, and networks. This position serves our entire controls team including Phoenix, AZ and on occasion in Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, or Denver, CO.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • 1-5 years’ experience in HVAC. Haynes Mechanical Systems supports several control systems : such as Trane, JCI, Siemens, Carrier, Niagara, and others, experience with controls systems and install required.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems (Boilers, Chillers, RTU’s, AHU’s and VAV’s) and must know / understand basic controls strategies for said systems
  • Understanding communication protocols experience required
  • Understanding of control voltages such as low voltage power supply application
  • Understanding of basic troubleshooting of inputs / outputs and communication networks
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Haynes Mechanical Systems to customers and Haynes Mechanical Controls Team members
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record
  • Proficient in all aspects of controls installation.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned :

  • Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness, and following basis of designs.
  • Ability to connect and configure field level devices, using company provided software.
  • Expectation of maintaining and utilizing company standards and implementation.
  • Troubleshooting and commissioning end devices with minimal assistance for VAVS, FBP, AHUs, RTUs, and Central Utility Plants.
  • Under Team Lead assistance – integrate control systems into Niagara and map data to created databases and graphics.
  • Possess a strong desire for advancement though training under the supervision of Team Leads.
  • Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and / or a lap top computer.
  • Communicates with Haynes Mechanical System’s team leaders and project management.
  • Possess strong customer written and verbal communication upon arrival and before leaving the customer work site.
  • Reviews customer’s systems and provides recommendations of improvement through collaboration with internal leadership of customer concerns and issues.
  • Required to complete all required documentation and provides accurate information for commissioning, as-builts documentation, and service tasking
  • Maintains safety standards, documentation and has a high degree of employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Conducts self-study (reading, research, and practice) to improve technical proficiency (software / hardware) within company's product lines
  • Previous experience with strong PC skills required
  • Completes all required commissioning documentation, including daily work performed, timesheets, expense sheets, service work orders, as well as on-site documentation

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :

    The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to lift 75 lbs from floor to waist with possible repetition
  • Able to lift 50 lbs from shoulder to overhead
  • Able to work with both arms above head for minimum of 5 minutes
  • Able to carry 50 lbs for a distance of 25 feet
  • Able to push or pull 125 for a distance of 150 feet
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Able to carry 30 lbs while climbing stairs or a ladder
  • Owning and operating hand tools – such as multi-meters, basic hand tools, power tools, and label makers, specialty tools will be provided at the discretion of the company.
  • Able to grip and operate hand tools, powers tools and safety equipment, such as chain falls
  • Able to lift legs and step over obstacles up to 19 inches above the ground
  • Able to perform work while in varying physical positions, such as lying on side, in a kneeling position, while standing on a ladder
  • Able to access rooftop units and work at heights and in some cases tight or enclosed spaces
  • Able to wear a respirator if conditions require; may have exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials
  • Able to crawl for a distance of 25 feet
  • Able to stoop, squat or kneel for up to 10 minutes at a time
  • Vision :

  • Correctable to 20 / 20 with no color blindness
  • Hearing :

  • Correctable to normal range
  • Pay Scale :   $36-$42 / hour starting pay
