This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, faculty position. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience. Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or bachelor's degree in healthcare field; master's degree preferred. Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more Sonography concentrations. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques.
Job Duties and Other Information
Coordination of the clinical component of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, including :
- Be responsible for coordinating clinical education; provide didactic education as assigned by the program director.
- Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the concentration(s) students are enrolled in.
- Provide clinical instruction and document the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence.
- Work with the NAH program coordinator and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program director to establish new affiliation and maintain availability of current affiliates.
- Schedule drug screenings and background checks for clinical students.
- Create student site assignment lists and forward to Program Director for approval and to NAH program coordinator.
- Update, print and distribute Preceptor Handbooks for each clinical site.
- Maintain site folders including all JRC-DMS required documentation :
- Site license
- License renewal for preceptors
- Site inspection form
- ASHP history form
- Ensure delivery of site packet to each location where students are placed.
- Continuous monitor clinical student performance through onsite visits and other methods, as appropriate.
- Advise and counsel program students and potential students.
- Remain current on regulatory, accreditation, and technical developments in the program field.
- Meet criteria for professional growth as required by the institution, accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Assist the program director to establish annual program goals and objectives, based on program assessment, advisory committee input and institutional goals.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Instructor duties to include, but not limited to :
Instruction of students.Contributions to the continued development of the curriculum.Participation in professional growth and community service.Maintenance of conference and academic advising hours.Participation in committees as assigned.
