The Position
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the AVP Business Development is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to drive growth in home health and hospice services throughout the growing West Texas territory. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers, hospitals, and key referral sources while overseeing the development and execution of business strategies. The AVP plays a pivotal role in expanding market share, identifying partnership opportunities, and ensuring seamless integration of clinical services with healthcare organizations. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
Strategic Business Development & Growth :
- Developing and implementing business development strategies to expand home health and hospice market share through both individual contributions and the development, deployment, and effective management of a team of clinical liaisons
- Hiring, developing, and maintaining a culture of accountability
- Hiring, developing, and managing top-level talent to cultivate and nurture relationships, driving referrals from hospitals and other facilities to serve the patients and communities who depend on the organization for quality care and optimal outcomes
- Working closely with the VP of Business Development to develop and execute key strategies for growth
- Identifying, establishing, and maintaining preferred partnerships, ACO relationships, and narrow network opportunities with hospitals and health systems
- Creating and driving opportunities for C-Suite collaboration with hospitals and health systems
- Overseeing the development of electronic referral integration and other innovative referral solutions
- Analyzing market trends, competitor strategies, and referral patterns to develop targeted business initiatives
Referral Management & Relationship Building :
Fostering and maintaining strong relationships with hospital executives, discharge planners, physicians, and other key referral sourcesCollaborating with leadership to ensure optimal referral management and conversionOverseeing strategies to enhance referral partnerships and streamline patient transitions to home health and hospice careEngaging with physician groups and senior care communities to strengthen referral networksClinical & Regulatory Oversight :
Ensuring business development initiatives align with home health and hospice regulatory requirementsWorking closely with clinical leadership to maintain compliance with state, federal, and industry regulationsDeveloping training programs to educate referral sources on eligibility, compliance, and best practices in home health and hospice careCommunity Outreach & Brand Awareness :
Representing the organization at industry conferences, healthcare summits, and networking eventsDeveloping and overseeing community outreach programs that enhance brand recognition and patient access to servicesLeading marketing and public relations initiatives to support business development strategiesThe Successful Candidate
The AVP Business Development plays a key role in the growth of the organization. As such, this senior level business development professional must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to meet the demands of this important role. Required competencies include, but are not limited to, the following :
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or a related fieldMaster’s degree preferred, but not requiredCurrent, unencumbered clinical license and prior clinical experience (preferred)5+ years of progressive experience in post-acute or home-based healthcare referral development, preferably concentrated in home health and / or hospiceExperience developing and managing high-level healthcare partnershipsIn-depth knowledge of home health and hospice regulations and industry trendsProven ability to drive revenue growth and build long-term strategic relationshipsExcellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skillsAbility to analyze data, identify trends, and implement business strategiesProficiency in CRM systems, electronic health records (EHR), and Microsoft Office SuiteComfort with frequent travel to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physician offices, and healthcare conferencesAbility to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for networking and eventsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong presentation skillsAbility to project a professional imageCompensation
