Alabama State University, Center for Leadership and Public Policy invites applications to fill the Business Analyst position. This position will provide support for the development, installation and management of information technology applications for our contract with Alabama State Department of Education. (ALSDE).
Duties and Responsibilities :
Serves as a liaison between the business unit, business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs
Analyzes business partner’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions
Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications
Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business
Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation.
Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge
May make recommendations for buy vs. build decisions
Development of new software business requirements as defined by ALSDE
Other closely related professional services typically associated with business analysis and support, including but not limited to activities such as training, preparation of documentation, preparation and conducing technical presentations, end-user interface and other problem solving tasks
Three (3) years of experience in data analysis to produce outputs and reports to make business recommendations and 2 years of experience in business process analysis, defining system requirements and preparing system specifications.
