Requirements of Speech Language Pathologist

Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Current Florida licensure or eligibility as a Speech Language Pathologist .

Preferred : Experience in acute care settings.

Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care practices, and geriatric therapy techniques.

Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology related to speech, language, and swallowing disorders.

Skilled in conducting assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.

Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities of Speech Language Pathologist

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders.

Work with patients of all ages in hospitals, clinics, and pediatric care settings.

Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.

Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.

Provide therapy sessions to improve communication skills : articulation, comprehension, expression, voice, fluency, and pragmatics.

Administer standardized assessments, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.

Educate patients and families on communication and swallowing strategies.

Document patient progress accurately and maintain detailed records.
