Material and Operations Technician
Yankee Home - Chicopee, MA
Reports To : Operations Manager (or Facilities / Warehouse Supervisor, depending on structure)
Employment Type : Full-Time
Pay : $20-$24 / Hr
Position Summary :
The Material and Operations Technician provides hands-on support with material handling, inventory management, and job site deliveries. This dual-role position is also responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep of the company’s facilities and property. The technician ensures a clean, safe, and efficient work environment, directly handles building maintenance and trash removal, and coordinates with vendors for specialized services.
Key Responsibilities :
Building & Grounds Maintenance :
- Perform routine building maintenance, including minor repairs, upkeep of common areas, and general facility care.
- Support facility needs by routinely changing trash bins and refilling soap dispensers, paper towels, and other common-area supplies.
- Conduct seasonal upkeep of exterior areas, including sweeping, minor landscaping, and snow / ice removal as needed.
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized services such as lawn care, snow removal, trash removal, and building repairs.
- Monitor building and grounds conditions, promptly addressing safety or operational concerns.
Warehouse Operations Support :
Unload and inspect incoming delivery trucks for accuracy and material qualityReport discrepancies or damage.Pick and prepare materials for installation crews based on sales orders.Deliver materials to job sites as needed, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.Assist the Production Team in locating and accessing required materials and tools.Organize and maintain warehouse layout to maximize efficiency and safety.Assist with routine inventory counts as needed.Fleet Support :
Assist with vehicle pick-up and drop-off to support vehicle upkeep and fleet operations as requested.Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; trade or technical school a plus.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record in accordance with company policy.Ability to operate company vehicles.Previous experience in facilities maintenance, warehouse operations, or related fields is preferred.Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (or willingness to be trained / certified).Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 lbs.Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.Work Environment :
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.Requires standing, bending, lifting, and moving materials for extended periods.May include occasional evening or weekend work for snow removal or urgent maintenance needs.Benefits :
