Director, Library System Services (Division Director III)

In this key leadership role, you will direct and oversee the System Service Division, which includes our Main Library, Access Services, Community Engagement, Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC), and social services. You will be responsible for providing leadership and professional development for our dedicated staff, allocating resources to meet our goals, and coordinating projects with various departments and agencies. As a member of our Leadership Team and Strategic Planning Team, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of our library system.

PBCLS is a thriving and essential part of Palm Beach County, serving over one million residents. With a Main Library, 17 branches, and a bookmobile, we are dedicated to providing outstanding services that meet the needs of our diverse community. In fiscal year 2024, we welcomed nearly 2.6 million visitors, circulated over 8.5 million items, and issued more than 36,000 new library cards. We've also recently expanded our meal programs for children and families, added a social services coordinator, and opened a new branch – all guided by valuable community feedback.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Qualified candidates will possess a Master’s Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association and five (5) years of professional library experience which includes three (3) years of responsible management or supervisory experience in a public library.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE INCLUDES :

• More than three (3) years of managerial experience in a public library system;
• Supervising several major library sections or branch libraries;
• Overseeing project management of major library initiatives;
• Managing customer-oriented service development;
• Giving presentations / public speaking to various groups / stakeholders; and
• Preparing budgets for major sections of a public library system.
