Summer Intern Positions

NiSource, the parent company of Columbia Gas of Ohio, is currently seeking Summer Interns for its Finance, Accounting, Regulatory, and Quality Control and Performance Management Departments. This position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence three days per week and remote work two days per week.

Essential Functions

• Successful applicants will become integral members of the department, while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with managers on important projects. These positions will be a great opportunity for the candidate desiring to launch their career in Finance-related fields. Successful applicants will build professional relationships with other interns and all levels of NiSource personnel while participating in rewarding professional development exercises and fun, team-building activities. Interns will obtain a broad overview of NiSource's operations and current events in the utilities industry.
• Opportunities are available in the following business disciplines :
• Accounting Department The intern will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment performing functions such as accounting and financial analysis, preparing journal entries, reviewing financial statements, preparing account reconciliations, accounting research, external reporting and Sarbanes - Oxley control testing.
• Tax Department The intern will provide tax accounting, compliance, research and planning services to all NiSource business units. Interns will assist with the annual preparation of Federal, state and local corporate income tax returns, and will be involved in researching new tax developments and may assist in strategic and financial tax planning.
• Financial Planning Department The intern will gain hands-on experience in performing functions such as building long range financial plans, budget to actual analysis, preparing capital expenditure and / or operating expense forecasts, developing variance analysis and producing monthly and quarterly management reports.
• Regulatory Department The intern will gain hands-on experience performing functions such as the preparation of information for regulatory filings in various proceedings, development of responses to requests for data from regulatory bodies and intervening parties, billing rate checks, and account reconciliations.
