Position Summary

The Senior Director of Events will be responsible for the strategic planning and flawless

execution of MTN’s global events portfolio, covering all industries we serve — maritime,

government, enterprise, energy, and beyond. This senior leader will oversee both domestic

and international events, including trade shows, sponsorship activations, customer

experiences, and internal functions. The Senior Director of Events will ensure efficiency,

accountability, and world-class delivery across the events function. Reporting to the Head of

Marketing, this person will partner with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and

the sourcing team to deliver events that maximize impact, optimize costs, and drive

customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor the events team (Event Director, Event Coordinator, and future hires) to

ensure efficiency and professionalism.

  • Provide clear direction, enforce accountability, and elevate execution standards across all
  • events.

  • Establish scalable processes, tools, and systems to drive consistency and operational
  • excellence.

    Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Own MTN’s global events calendar, covering trade shows, industry conferences,
  • sponsorships, and corporate events across all industries.

  • Align event strategies with marketing and sales goals to maximize ROI.
  • Deliver flawless end-to-end execution, from concept and planning through on-site delivery
  • and post-event reporting.

    Budget, Vendor & Sourcing Collaboration

  • Build and manage event budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost efficiency.
  • Partner closely with the sourcing / procurement team to gather all requirements and
  • secure the best pricing for venues, agencies, and suppliers.

  • Negotiate with vendors to secure high-value partnerships.
  • Measure event performance against KPIs and provide post-event analysis with
  • recommendations.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing, sales, product, and leadership teams to define event objectives
  • and messaging.

  • Ensure consistent brand representation across all domestic and international events.
  • Serve as the senior liaison to executives, escalating only when necessary.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Implement detailed project plans, checklists, and processes to standardize execution.
  • Oversee logistics including booth design, branding, shipping, staffing, and on-site
  • operations.

  • Maintain strong relationships with global vendors, venues, and industry partners.

    Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in event management, with at least 5 in a senior
  • leadership role.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, or related field
  • Master's Degree in Marketing, or Business (Preferred but not required)
  • Proven success managing global event portfolios across multiple industries.
  • Strong background in high-profile trade shows and corporate events (domestic and
  • international).

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to
  • detail.

  • Strong vendor negotiation and budget management experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership presence, with the ability to represent MTN
  • externally.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Travel Requirement

    Up to 30% travel, including both domestic and international events.

  • Operational Excellence : On-time, on-budget delivery of all events with minimal escalations.
  • Team Performance : Improved organization, accountability, and efficiency within the
  • events team.

  • Cost Management : Demonstrated savings through vendor negotiation, sourcing
  • collaboration, and budget discipline.

  • Business Impact : Tangible contribution to lead generation, customer engagement, and
  • revenue opportunities through events.

  • Stakeholder Satisfaction : Positive feedback from internal teams, executives, and external
  • partners on event quality and outcomes.

  • Scalability : Creation of standardized playbooks, processes, and systems that make future
  • events more efficient and repeatable.
