Accounts Payable Specialist

Location : Palatine, Illinois (On-Site)

Assignment Type : 3-month contract position with the opportunity for long-term employment

Compensation : $26 - $28 / Hour (Depending on relevant experience)

Benefits : This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Job Responsibilities :

  • Process high-volume PO and non-PO invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and adherence to company policies.
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and execute weekly check runs, ACH, and wire transfers.
  • Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Maintain vendor files and ensure W-9 documentation is current for tax reporting purposes.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research and resolve invoice / payment issues, and respond to vendor inquiries promptly.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close by preparing accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Support audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments to improve processes and workflows.

Qualifications :

  • 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of invoice processing, payment systems, and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in ERP / accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
