- Check out our Total Rewards SIRC Simulation Lab Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating, maintaining and scheduling of labs. This position also includes collaborating with the Nursing Course Coordinators to ensure the scheduling of nursing lab personnel as necessary for lab experiences.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Coordinate and schedule simulation and skills labs.Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate the simulation lab staff.Collaborate with Course Coordinators, Department Chairs and Program Directors.Supervise lab assistants with clean up and storage of supplies and equipment.Maintain clean, organized lab environment; update student mailboxes each semester.Maintain a current posted schedule of all nursing labs and lab assistants.Maintain inventory of lab equipment. Ensure that laboratory equipment is up to date and reflective of current practice.Secure equipment rentals based on lab needs for specific nursing clinical courses.Maintain inventory of lab supplies and materials – work with the Bookstore and faculty in the ordering of course-specific nurse packs.Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, recognizing when equipment is malfunctioning. Perform preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair equipment when appropriate. Maintain maintenance and repair records.Maintain expertise in the use of human patient simulations for student learning including computer and technological skills.Supervise students in the open lab setting and follows up on lab referrals.Remain current in the areas of infection control and safety involving hazardous materials, chemicals, and radiation. Ensure that safety requirements are in place and safe procedures are being used.Work closely with faculty and community partners. At times, conduct simulation laboratory tours and demonstrations.Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.Support the Nursing Center of Excellence (COE).Serve on committees as assigned.Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.Other duties as assigned.Hours / Schedule : This position is scheduled year-round, forty hours per week. This includes a flexible work schedule that accommodates faculty and student needs. Minimum Qualifications : Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.Registered Nurse with a current Michigan Nursing license.Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle confidential matters.Demonstrated ability in operating all related equipment.Demonstrated ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks.Demonstrated ability to appropriately use standard office and instructional software and tools.Demonstrated skill in effective written and verbal communication.Demonstrated awareness of the diversity of health care settings.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with the various college stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and make sound judgments and decisions.Demonstrated ability to appropriately and effectively resolve conflicting situations.Knowledge of and willingness to participate in clinical simulation experiences, management of equipment and mannequins.
