Medical Staff Services Analyst

Supports enterprise-wide activities to ensure quality and compliance in conducting, maintaining, and communicating provider credentialing, privileging, and primary source verification. Serves as a resource to, and collaborates with, others to advance the quality of practitioners and patient safety of the facility.

Education & Experience

Degree (Associate or Bachelor) and one (1) year of experience in medical staff services, credentialing, or healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles, evaluates, and presents provider-specific data collected for review by one or more decision-making bodies.
  • Analyzes applications and supporting documents for correctness and completeness and communicates with the provider and support personnel regarding non-compliance or missing information.
  • Recognizes, investigates, and validates discrepancies and adverse information obtained from the application, primary source verifications, or other sources.
  • Collaborates with leaders to develop and maintain a facility-specific, criteria-based clinical privileging system in accordance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Applies clearly defined privileging process to all providers.
  • Maintains credentialing database to ensure that accurate and current information is available to all stakeholders.
  • Educates providers and support staff on requirements and processes for credentialing and privileging.
  • Participates in the organization and presentation of information for and / or communicates with external auditors as necessary.
  • Participates in ongoing assessment of governing documents (bylaws, rules and regulations, policies) and collaborates with supervisors and medical staff leaders to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Provides functional supervision and training to lower level assistants as necessary.

Physical and Environmental Demands : Requires occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal / clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing / pulling, frequent reaching, constant sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and occasional walking.
