Duties and Tasks : This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. Logs into all jobs you are assigned to. Logs set up scrap accurately if produced. Reads Job Travelers, verifying machines have a signed sample and current parts being formed match sample. Checks parts to customer print. Reads and follows all set-up instructions and corrects or updates instructions for jobs which are not accurately or adequately documented. Can read and interpret prints. Performs all operations required to set-up equipment, fixtures, and dies for all CNC machining centers and robotic trimmers without assistance. Completes first piece inspections if possible or informs QC when needed to check first piece. Verify by using CNC set-up checklist. Ensures quality of first piece using required measuring equipment and document as required. Utilizes proper selection of tooling, cutter types, program adjustment / offsets, and controller settings. Applies proper mounting and securing of tooling and verifies runout is acceptable; aligning and securing of fixtures; and establishing reference points, setting stops and machine travel. Manually cycles machine to check tooling, fixture, and / or work alignment, clearances, stops, etc. to program specifications, making adjustments to bring tolerances and finish requirements to specifications. Understands and can write G & M code commands. Makes periodic operation checks to assure the proper set-up operations are in line with company requirements. Performs more advanced troubleshooting. Act as technical resource to address and resolve CNC set-up inquires and problems; analyze and resolve work problems; and assist other set-up technicians or operators in solving machine problems. Assists in the training of CNC Set-up Operator as needed. Drives continuous improvement in CNC set-up times and metrics. Shares reduction of program movement improvement with management and programming to reduce cycle times. Abides by 5S and Lean Manufacturing in the CNC department. Follows all safety procedures to create a safe work environment for all personnel. Performs any other tasks as assigned by management.Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Advanced schooling or training a plus. Must have several years experience in CNC set-up of machining equipment and operations OR currently enrolled in CNC educational program and display a mechanical aptitude.Language Skills  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, set-up instructions, and procedural manuals. Able to communicate effectively with other employees, office personnel and management.Mathematical & Reasoning Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Able to practical problem solve and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and communicate with management if unable to solve. Able to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Physical Demands & Working Environment : The physical demands and work characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
