ERP & Database Administrator

The ERP & Database Administrator reports directly to the IT Data & Design Solution Manager. This role is responsible for administering, supporting, and optimizing the company's ERP system (Sage X3) and database environments. The administrator will ensure system stability, troubleshoot technical issues, manage user access, and support business process improvements. Additionally, they will provide training, generate reports, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance ERP functionality and database performance. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to system management are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Sage X3 ERP system and related applications.
  • Provide technical support for ERP users, troubleshooting issues and resolving system errors.
  • Manage and optimize SQL databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
  • Develop and modify SQL queries, stored procedures, and reports to meet business needs.
  • Assist in ERP upgrades, patches, and customizations in collaboration with vendors and IT teams.
  • Support user access management, roles, and permissions within the ERP system.
  • Provide training and documentation for ERP users, ensuring efficient system utilization.
  • Work with departments to identify and implement business process improvements using ERP functionality.
  • Maintain database backups, recovery plans, and performance tuning strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and data governance standards.
  • Assist in the integration of ERP with other business applications and data sources.
  • Perform regular system health checks and audits to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Occasionally provide general IT support as needed.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines or support system maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills Required

  • AAS or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in ERP administration, database management, or a related technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with Sage X3 ERP (or similar ERP systems) and SQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL scripting, stored procedures, and database administration.
  • Familiarity with ERP workflows, system configurations, and business process automation.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports, Power BI, or SSRS is a plus.
  • Understanding of system integrations, API connections, and data migration processes.
  • Basic knowledge of networking, security protocols, and IT infrastructure is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Experience Required

  • 2+ years of experience working in ERP administration, database support, or a related IT role.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting ERP system issues and optimizing database performance.
  • Experience working with users across different departments to improve ERP functionality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, depending on work tasks.
  • Must be able to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, kneel, turn, crouch, stoop, and perform other physical activities as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to varying temperatures, loud environments, and operational equipment such as printers and computers.
  • Frequent use of a computer screen and repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and mouse use.
  • Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, or airborne particles, moving mechanical part, electrical, chemicals, and vibrations.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involving heavy machinery, electrical systems, and chemical supplies (under safe working conditions).
  • Must be able to work irregular or extended hours, including weekends and nights, when necessary to meet deadlines or provide support.
