Job Description / Summary

The Student Affairs Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the success and well-being of students by coordinating key administrative support functions within the Student Affairs Division. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of accommodation testing including exam logistics and proctoring coordination, as well as administrative support for the Accessibility Office. The position is also responsible for financial aid administrative support, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) hiring and supervision processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a student-centered approach.

The Student Affairs Coordinator supports or directly responsible for the following :

  • Accessibility Testing, Proctoring, and general Coordination
  • Schedule and coordinate midterms, finals, and other institutional exams for students with accommodations.

  • Arrange for appropriate testing accommodations in collaboration with the Accessibility Services office.
  • Testing center coverage onsite for 40 hours (minimum, could require more) during week of final exams and week of midterm exams quarterly (finals testing approximately one week in middle of the months of March, June, September and December.
  • Hire, train, and supervise test proctors.
  • Ensure testing environments meet academic integrity and institutional standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for Accessibility Services office, including testing schedules, attendance, and incidents.
  • Financial Aid Administrative Support
  • Determine student eligibility for Title IV aid and prepare student award packages.

  • Interpret and implement Federal Methodology, verification requirements, and institutional policies related to financial aid.
  • Support the Financial Aid Office in responding to student inquiries related to aid eligibility, application status, cost of attendance, and disbursement timelines.
  • Maintain confidential student records in compliance with FERPA and institutional policy.
  • Federal Work-Study (FWS) Hiring & Coordination
  • Coordinate onboarding and timesheet tracking for FWS student employees.

  • Serve as a liaison between student workers, supervisors, and the Financial Aid Office to ensure compliance with program guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education administration or a student services setting.
  • Familiarity with FERPA, federal financial aid regulations, and work-study policies preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, student information systems, and scheduling software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability.

    Minimum Education / Certifications

    Bachelor’s degree in field related to area of assignment.

    Desired Education / Certifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs or Business

    Working Environment

    All work hours take place at the Sonoran University Campus in Tempe, Arizona. Work is performed primarily in an environmentally controlled office setting with extended periods of computer use, including keyboarding and operating a computer mouse. The role may require occasional evening or weekend hours during peak periods, such as midterms, final exams, or financial aid processing deadlines.

    Duties may involve lifting and transporting boxes of testing materials, as well as setting up exam rooms. The position may also require walking moderate distances across campus and periods of standing. The work environment involves frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and communication with students, faculty, and staff to perform essential functions.

    Background / Screening
