What You Will Do :
Pratt & Whitney East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Process Developer (P4) to support both sides of the EHRO business, Connecticut Rotating Parts (CTRP) and Connecticut Stators and Components (CTSC). This position allows an individual to work with rotating and static parts for all major PW / IAE engine programs.
In this role, you would be responsible for the development, trial, and troubleshooting of all CNC related programs required to accomplish engine part repairs. Typical CNC operations on-site are turning, grinding and milling. The individual would be integrated within the repair development engineering team supporting process development from the machine program side.
Additional responsibility details :
Drive industrialization of new CNC capital equipment investments, developing standard processes and becoming a subject matter expert of the equipment.
Create new and modified CNC programs for turning, grinding, and milling.
Display the ability to understand machine functionality within the business and solve program problems efficiently and quickly.
Provide on-site support troubleshooting CNC programs with operators and the engineering team.
Create new programs upon request and work with the operator through tryout and certification.
Evaluate tool, insert, fixture, machine, and technique selection to drive a process to success. Take ownership of process until certification.
Recommendations, business case analysis, and execution of new manufacturing technologies to drive continuous improvement.
Occasional travel may be required to attend conferences, new machine qualification runoffs, and company training events.
The person in this role will have the opportunity to expand their skills to include robotic programming and CMM programming.
Qualifications You Must Have :
Advanced degree and 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Military, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience.
3+ years of general CNC programming experience, including CAM offline programming and modifying programs at the controls using G&M codes.
3+ years of experience setting up CNC equipment, tool selection and proving-out programs for first piece.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to read and interpret technical data, engine manuals and blueprints.
Qualifications We Prefer :
Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred.
Experience developing and verifying CNC programs using a CAM environment, Siemens NX and Vericut preferred.
Familiarity with Fanuc, Sinumerik, and OSP machine controls
Experience in creating complex probing routines to automate set-ups and mitigate operating risks
Knowledge / use of Tilted Workplanes, Dynamic Work Offsets, and system variables
Experience with robotic programming for plasma spray, waterjet
Experience with CMM programming including MODUS, Camio, PC DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, and / or 3D scanning
Component repair experience utilizing complex machining, particularly in an FAA Repair Station MRO environment.
Thorough understanding of manufacturing process and / or repair process life cycle
LEAN, Continuous Improvement, CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training and experience.
Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
