Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in the State of Florida. Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule. Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants. Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves. Ability to manage stress. Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to : lifting participants and / or equipment, bending, pushing / pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position. Florida Driver’s License. Recreational Therapist License Preferred. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. No special vision requirements. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to wet and / or humid conditions when transporting and helping patients.
Summary
Under the administrative direction and supervision of Management the role plans, develops, implements, and oversees recreational therapy services for program participants.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Evaluates and implements creative, individualized, and therapeutic activities for participants care plans.
- Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
- Trains staff on new recreational therapy activities and programs.
- Plans and offers varied monthly programs and uses group and individual oriented interventions to maximize participants’ cognitive and functional abilities.
- Offers therapeutic activities daily for participants with special needs.
- Documents participant involvement in activities and revises care plans as needed.
- Actively participates in team discussions offering feedback, ideas, and suggestions both on a day-to-day basis and in staff meetings.
- Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
