EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NECESSARY : The award-winning WWAY News team is looking for a strong, experienced newsroom leader to help guide our team into the future!
WWAY, the ABC, CBS and CW affiliate serving beautiful coastal southeastern North Carolina, is seeking a Managing Editor. This key leadership role helps supervise the day-to-day operations of our newsroom and reports to the News Director.
Responsibilities include :
- Direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring of reporters, producers, and anchors
- Managing daily story selection, assignments, script approvals, and newsroom rundowns
- Leading daily editorial meetings and assisting reporters in sharpening story focus
- Overseeing story development and special coverage (elections, sports, severe weather, and community events)
- Managing our web and social media presence
- Inserting breaking news or weather updates before and during live broadcasts
- Leads the newsroom in the News Director's absence
Qualifications :
