job_description.job_card.job_descriptionDevelops reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by Director Participates in developing departmental strategic plans based on department goals Assists Director in planning and budgeting for department Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates programs Provides leadership for department along with and in absence of the Director Handles special projects as assigned by the Director Provides supervision and guidance to a team or departmental sub-unit(s) Leads functional unit within Financial Management Operations responsible for auditing all Travel and Non-Travel transactions Supervises assigned staff and student employees, including training new staff or training staff on new processes. Designs and initiates training Implements and oversees Oversight. Works with FMO staff in College Station to fine tune high risks and develop consistent methods of dealing with potential fraud and identifying additional training needs. This includes exceptions found on the payment and travel cards, and out of pocket expenses Manage customer service volume. Ensure helpdesk email and phone calls from customers are responded to and resolved in a timely manner Manage unapplied transaction escalations Coordinate audit requests, which includes pulling documentation, reviewing prior to providing to auditors Administers Emburse and Oversight system for TAMUS system members, and coordinates updates and changes with other system member business offices Serve as a training resource for TAMU and shared service members Assist director in the management of travel program, and travel vendor relationships Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Six years of related experience Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Excellent oral and written communication Customer service and problem-solving skills in an increasingly complex environment Familiarity with internal controls Wide range of knowledge of governmental and higher education operations Ability to make decisions Demonstrated ability to supervise others This position is security sensitive This position requires compliance with state and federal laws / codes and Texas A&M University System / TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

The FBS Assistant Director, under general direction, assists the Director in all aspects of Texas A&M Centralized Finance and Business Services departmental operations and maintains responsibility for a major functional unit(s) within a department.
