What You'll Do

We are seeking a flexible and dependable Child Development Classroom Assistant / Floater to join our early childhood education team. This position supports classrooms across the center by stepping in where needed to ensure smooth daily operations and high-quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The Floater will assist teachers with implementing developmentally appropriate activities, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and supporting children’s routines, including meals, play, and rest times. Ideal candidates are adaptable, team-oriented, and passionate about working with young children. This is a vital role that helps ensure continuity of care and supports a positive learning environment throughout the center.

Who We Are Looking For

Under the direction of Child Development Center management and the Mentor Teacher, the Child Development Classroom Assistant / Floater assists in the implementation of developmentally-appropriate curriculum and programs for children (ages six weeks through six years old) in the Child Development Center classrooms. Supports the Child and Family Studies, Early Childhood Education (ECE) program faculty by supporting program students by modeling developmentally appropriate practice, professionalism, positive communication, and ethical decision making in alignment with NAEYC code of ethics.

Distinguishing Characteristic :

• This class is distinguished from the Mentor Teacher or Assistant Teachers in that the Child Development Classroom.
• Assistant / Floater is not assigned to one specific classroom.
• Classroom Floater moves between classrooms where needed to support classroom teaching staff and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and programs for children developed by the teaching staff in each classroom.
