Who we are lookin g for
We are looking for a compassionate Community Development / Lived Experience Worker to provide practical and emotional support to victim-survivors of family domestic and sexual violence (FDSV). Using your lived experience and / or community development skills you will help clients navigate services build trust and support workforce development by educating health providers to recognise and respond to FDSV and child sexual abuse (CSA). You will also engage in community development activities that raise awareness and build capacity to strengthen service responses within primary care.
To be successful in this role you will :
- Demonstrated experience or professional training in utilising lived expertise in a community services setting.
- Lived experience of family domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) and / or child sexual abuse (CSA) with the capacity to use this experience to support and empower others.
- Demonstrated experience providing practical emotional or peer support to vulnerable individuals preferably in FDSV or community service settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to engage sensitively with clients and health professionals.
- Formal qualifications in Social Work Community Services Health or related discipline.
- Knowledge of primary health care systems referral pathways and the challenges of rural or regional service delivery.
- Experience working in a collaborative team-based environment and liaising with service providers.

W hat you will be doing
The Community Development / Lived Experience Worker will play a vital role in supporting victim-survivors of family domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) by providing practical emotional and trauma-informed assistance as part of the Local Link Team (LLT). Drawing on your lived experience you will build trust with clients assist with service navigation and safety planning and promote culturally safe client-centred support. You will also contribute to community development education and workforce training by helping primary care providers recognise respond to and refer disclosures of FDSV and child sexual abuse (CSA). This role bridges personal insight and professional practice to strengthen service responses and foster safer more responsive care pathways within the community and health sectors.
