Are you an educational professional who likes to see students succeed as they enter solid, living wage jobs? That's what Renton Technical College does! This is a great opportunity to see the direct impact on our students who have an interest in entering the field of cloud and computer network technology. As a Cloud Network Technology Adjunct Instructor, you know what it takes to become a cloud practitioner and computer network technician. You bring your passion for cloud services and network architecture to the classroom by teaching classes in LAN and WAN networking, as well as maintenance / repair of Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems in physical and cloud-based environments. You also help students prepare for industry certifications, including CCNA, Linux+ and AWS Cloud Practitioner. You demonstrate a commitment to student success through equitable teaching and learning excellence, a vision for creating a progressive Cloud Network Technology program that supports industry needs; and an aptitude for building inclusive relationships with the community. To keep curriculum current, you also work closely with industry partners and the program's advisory committee to make sure that graduates leave with both the practical and soft skills to thrive in a diverse marketplace. This adjunct position is responsible for 20-40 hours per week of instruction and related professional duties in our daytime Cloud Network Technology program. Teaching assignments may include web-enhanced, online, or hybrid courses. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the Dean of Workforce.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically marginalized populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Provide leadership in working to improve access and successful educational outcomes for diverse student populations, especially underrepresented and underserved groups.
- Support the College's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking through an equity lens.
- Effectively teach the adopted curricula for the Cloud Network Technology program, including classes in basic networking; python; routing and switching; and managing and troubleshooting cloud, on premise, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Develop and update the curriculum as required by the College to respond to industry trends and to improve equitable student outcomes.
- Design inclusive instructional strategies, including classroom, small groups and individualized instruction, to reach all students, and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.
- Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes, including thoughtfully designed individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
- Maintain and submit student records, documentation, and program reports, including assessment reports.
- Maintain office hours convenient to students.
- In collaboration with the Information Technology department, ensure that the classroom lab environment is maintained and up to date.
- Assist in the development of cooperative education and internship opportunities for students with varied backgrounds and career goals.
- Actively participate in, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with the program advisory committee and enhance advisory committee representation by developing close ties with the local business community.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
- Serve on department and College governance committees.
- Participate in campus events and student recruitment activities.

In the interest of providing a healthy, safe and secure educational and work environment, and in order to meet the requirements of federal legislation, it is the policy of Renton Technical College to maintain an alcohol and drug-free workplace for our employees and students.
Candidates will be asked to provide documentation of unofficial transcripts of graduate coursework This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,090 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days. All guided practice instructional credits for adjunct will be paid with an additional pay factor of 1.33. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $1,640 per credit, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
Degree Stipend : Master's or Doctorate degree stipends are paid on a prorated per credit rate.
The person hired is required to provide authorization for employment in the United States. Adjunct faculty may become eligible for benefits if they work two (2) consecutive quarters at 50% or more of full time academic load in order to qualify for benefits (based on instructional hours only - benefits would begin on the first day of the working month after working 50% or more for two consecutive quarters).
Newly-hired adjunct faculty are eligible for PEBB insurance benefits when they have taught 50 percent or more of a full-time workload
Adjunct faculty who initially meet the State Board Retirement Plan Eligibility criteria after June 30, 2011 are given the option to participate in the State Board Plan (TIA) or to participate in TRS 3, and have 30 days to make a choice. The eligibility threshold for participation in the State Board Retirement Plan (TIA) is 50 percent of a full-time workload
