The Director of Nurses' responsibilities include the following :

  • Supervising all nursing staff.
  • Overseeing nursing budgets.
  • Reporting to higher management in the healthcare facility.
  • Maintains high standards of care for all patients.
  • Managing patients' data and medical records as confidential records.
  • Communicating with medical staff, patients, and family members about patient health.
  • Recruiting, training, and onboarding new nursing staff.
  • Providing ongoing education classes.
  • Implementing new procedures and training for nurses regarding performance improvement initiatives or revised policies.
  • Overseeing the therapeutic milieu.
  • Planning and implementing nursing performance improvement program in conjunction with medical director.

Qualified candidates for Director of Nursing should have the following :

  • License : Active RN License and BLS certification.
  • Education : Prefer a master's degree in nursing preferably with a background in mental health, but must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Experience : Healthcare management experience preferred. At least five years progressive acute care, and 5 years behavioral health experience preferably with children or adolescents. Proficient in Joint Commission standards.
