Director, Software Engineering
You'll lead a globally distributed engineering team within Nike's Data, Analytics & Intelligence (DAI) organization. You'll partner with Technical Product Managers, Principal Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders across business and technology to deliver scalable, reusable data capabilities that empower teams across Nike to build insights and analytics in a governed, consistent, and efficient manner.
We're looking for an experienced, inclusive, and hands-on engineering leader to drive Nike's data enablement strategy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data architecture, platform engineering, and product thinking. You'll lead the development of frameworks and services that standardize how Nike defines, stores, and publishes business metrics, integrates GenAI capabilities into analytics workflows, and enables federated data ownership through a data mesh approach.
You'll also play a key role in shaping Nike's broader data strategyensuring that the capabilities your team builds are secure, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices and enterprise standards.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field plus 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles or equivalent combination of education, experience or training.
- Proven experience building data-centric frameworks, APIs, and services at scale.
- Deep expertise in software engineering fundamentals, with a strong command of distributed systems and cloud-native architecture patterns.
- Experience with modern data platforms and related tooling like Databricks, Snowflake, EMR, Airflow, Kafka, Spark.
- Experience with CICD and DevOps tools like Jenkins, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of AI / ML, GenAI, and AI-powered automation.
- Demonstrates exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead through influence and to navigate complex problem spaces.
- Adept at evaluating and articulating the strategic and financial impact of new capabilities, features, and investments.
Operates with a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset - prioritizing customer value and continuous improvement through resilient, scalable systems.
