Principal Engineer - Thermal Engineering

The Principal Engineer position is part of the Thermal Engineering group under Combination Product Operations at Amgen. This role requires the application of diverse and advanced engineering, scientific principles as well as excellent communication skills to enable cold chain transportation operations within the Amgen Supply Chain network.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will actively participate in cross-functional teams to qualify shipping solutions that meet Amgens expanding business needs, serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) addressing and resolving technical issues or challenges related to Cold Chain solutions. This position requires the application of engineering and project management principles to develop and qualify thermal packaging systems in accordance with GDP and GMP procedures.

Responsibilities include leading the qualification of thermal shipping systems, performing technical assessments and studies, and writing technical reports, manuals, specifications, SOPs, and bill-of-materials with minimal supervision. Additionally, the individual will manage collaborative relationships with internal customers and external partners, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders. This role also involves organizing and managing the databases owned by Thermal Engineering, overseeing the shipper project request process, supporting the operation of a unique transportation simulation testing lab and expertly communicating progress to key partners in a timely manner.

This position may include domestic and international travel on an as-needed basis.

Basic Qualifications :

• High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering experience OR
• Associates degree and 10 years of Engineering experience OR
• Bachelors degree and 6 years of Engineering experience OR
• Masters degree and 4 years of Engineering experience OR
• Doctorate degree and 2 years of Engineering experience

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
