THE DEPARTMENT :
The Care Center is a key component of the Campus Health and Wellbeing Cluster within the Division of Student Affairs at Cal Poly Pomona embodying the Universitys commitment to holistic and preventative approaches to student alignment with the Universitys mission and strategic goals we are dedicated to creating a supportive space where students can flourish both academically and personally. The Care Center is the first point of contact for students in distress or of concern. We connect students to essential resources provide advocacy and support them through crises support. Our comprehensive Basic Needs services include Health and Wellness Products and resources Mental Health Support Coordination Housing and Financial Support Food and Clothing Resources. By offering these diverse services we aim to empower students normalize the seeking of support and build a community that prioritizes care compassion and student success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct analyze and disseminate research data on the health of college students and prevention initiatives using existing data collection instruments and designing department-specific instruments.
- Design and conduct community health promotion / disease prevention education programs to improve health knowledge attitudes and behaviors of students using health promotion theories evidence-based best practices outcome evaluation statistical analysis and health behavior research methodologies.
- Design operate and maintain health education services in support of SHWSs and Care Centers mission including stress management bystander intervention alcohol and other drug prevention tobacco cessation cold and flu education nutrition education and exercise education for the campus community.
- Provide individual one-on-one patient education recorded in the Electronic Medical Record on a variety of health issues including stress management nutrition exercise substance use and sexual health. Assist in the supervision of peer health educators as they provide health education.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Care Center and execution of the Wellness Card Program which includes maintaining relationships with participating Faculty recruiting new Faculty partnerships and revising and updating health assessments to address the current student population.
- Conduct one-on-one and group sanction education sessions for students referred through the Office of Student Conduct & Integrity or other campus partners. Prepare and maintain adequate supplies of health education materials.
- Assist in marketing and campus outreach efforts to increase student awareness of Care Center & Wellness services. Coordinate and conduct outreach activities to connect the Care Center with the campus community including UHS OSLCC ASI Orientation Services Athletics and student clubs and organizations. Contribute to web content and social media relative to health promotion.
- Work with campus partners to create develop implement and evaluate healthy campus initiatives. Develop and maintain productive relationships with departments and individuals in the University community.
- Represent the department through committees services on campus community and professional development identified by incumbent and agreed upon with supervisor.
- Advocate for health promotion activities. Work to insure standards established by American College Health Association (ACHA) and the health and wellness standards of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for health promotion are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned incidental to the nature of the position or appropriate to the missions of the Students of Concern Team the Care Center the Division of Student Affairs and the university.
- Supports the Division of Student Affairs on collaborative initiatives related to supporting and advocating for students.
- Represents Care Services during weekend events and extended Hours.

CSU Classification Salary Range
This position is part of the CSUEU bargaining unit 2. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule is located on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is : minimum $5549 and maximum $8083 per month. Please refer to the anticipated hiring range for the appropriate salary rate for this particular position.

University Driving Requirement
Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must : 1. Have a valid California or other State Drivers license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12-month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3. Not have more than 3 DMV Points if their license is Class C or 4. Not have more than 5 DMV Points if their license is Class A B or C with endorsements.
