Forensic Nurse Examiner- Adult Er
Under general supervision, the Forensic Nurse Examiner provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age / developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Provide patient / family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
Minimum Training and Education : Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of 5 years of work experience to include three (3) years of Registered Nurse work experience as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Telephone and personal interaction with patients, various MUSC personnel and physicians. Ability to hear and communicate detailed information effectively and proficiently in a written and oral manner. Must be proficient in public speaking, understanding and writing medical terminology.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20 / 40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
