Job Title

Reposted 08 / 07 / 2025 Will assist the teacher in carrying out the educational, recreational, and social programs planned for children.

Major Duties

  • Will attend lectures, conferences, and other educational programs as directed for her / his development and growth as an aide.
  • Will be alert to the needs of each child in providing for their health and welfare.
  • Will maintain the classroom in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Will be required to rotate to centers as the need arises.
  • Will assist with all classroom responsibilities in the absence of the teacher and teacher aide.
  • Responsible for making the morning bus trip only on an emergency basis.
  • Will perform other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferably some college education (child development / early childhood courses / or experience working with preschool children).
  • Be bilingual and have experience in working with preschool-age children.
  • Maintain all local, state, and federal guidelines for position on an annual basis.

    • Physical Demands / Work Environment

    Occasionally

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 30 - 40 pounds in all directions.
  • Working in low temperatures.
  • Working in high temperatures.
  • Working in noisy environments.
  • Working small and / or enclosed spaces.
  • Working in adverse environmental conditions is expected.
  • Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Medium work that includes carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.

  • Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug / alcohol and criminal background checks are required.
  • Must have a driver's license and insurable transportation. If no Driver's license, must obtain within 3 months.
  • This position is not covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to all the Webb County Policies and Webb County Head Start addendum.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver's License must be obtained prior to employment.
